Michael Joseph Cipkas Obituary

Michael Joseph Cipkas, 50, of Bloomfield, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, (April 12, 2014) at his home. Born in Hartford on May 14, 1963, son of Stanley Anthony Cipkas, Sr. and Elizabeth (Theodore) Cipkas, he was raised in Bloomfield and was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, Class of 1982. After high school, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served until his honorable discharge in 1989. After living in Clinton, MA and North Granby, Michael returned to Bloomfield where he had lived for the past 20 years. While growing up, he served as an altar boy at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Bloomfield and was an Eagle Scout with Troop #138 in Bloomfield. Michael loved the outdoors and had worked for many years with his brother's landscaping company, Leopard Lawn Care in Granby. He also worked for the former MotoTown indoor race track in Windsor. Most of all, Michael will be remembered as a family man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, sitting by a bonfire with his friends, enjoying a meal with his family, and working outside with his brother. Besides his parents, he leaves a son, Joshua Michael Cipkas of Worcester, MA; two brothers, William S. Cipkas of Granby and Stanley A. Cipkas, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Marlborough; a sister, Jo-Ann Jones of Bloomfield; two nephews, Richard Jones and Stanley A. Cipkas, III; seven nieces, Christina Corsetti and her husband Brian, Stacy Falk and her husband Kenny, Alexa and Samantha Cipkas, and Josalyn, Jesseca, and Jaimie Cipkas; three great nieces and a great nephew, Caitlyn, Brianna, and Johnathan Corsetti, and Kensy Falk; and a close family friend Robert. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 15, 4-8 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor and on Wednesday, April 16, 9-10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Wednesday, April 16, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, Bloomfield. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Granby Cemetery, Granby.
