Fernand J. Berube Obituary

Fernand J. Berube, 91, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. Fernand immigrated from Trois-Pistoles, Quebec, Canada in 1953 to marry Adrienne Levesque of Fall River, Massachusetts, who predeceased him in 2010. They were married for 57 years. Before moving to Manchester to live with their daughter, her husband, and their daughter, they were long time residents of West Hartford, CT. He was employed by West Hartford Stairs and Cabinets in West Hartford, CT for 31 years until his retirement 1985. His lifelong love was working in carpentry, especially building stairs and cabinets. He continued building many pieces of furniture in his workshop after his retirement. Fernand is survived by his daughter Diane Purcell of Manchester, Diane's husband John and granddaughter Ashleigh. Fernand was predeceased by his father Jules Berube, his mother Claudia Rioux, and 10 brothers and sisters, all from Canada. He also leaves many nieces and nephews that have always deeply loved their uncle. The family wishes to thank the Drs., Palliative care nurses and the staff of St Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT, especially on floors 8-1, 8-9 and 6-1, and Masonicare Hospice team, East Hartford, CT for their loving care and support. A special thank you to our cherished friend and hospice volunteer, Lissa Robinovitz, for helping Fernand pass peacefully from this world into the next. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, April 16th from 12:30-2:30pm at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 3:30pm from St. Bridget Church, Manchester. Entombment will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, April 17th in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery Mausoleum, Bloomfield. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bridget Church, 74 N.
