Alan H. Haberern. There are times when we receive wonderful gifts from life, a person who makes your day better just for having known them. Al was that gift. His easy laugh which lit his sparkling green eyes his loving, caring nature, and his amazing golf swing. Most importantly his unwavering love of his family and friends will stay in our hearts forever. We are all better people because Al was a part of our lives. Al passed away on April 10, 2014 at the age of 62. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elaine K. Haberern, daughter Cheryl L. Parent and her husband John and five wonderful grandchildren Cailyn, Cameron, Jillian, Allyson and Braeden. Alan leaves his mother Olga K. Haberern, brothers Paul and Kevin along with their spouses and children brother -in-laws Bruce and Barry Kelly and sister-in-law Linda K. Morey and their children. He also has many uncles, aunts, cousins and their spouses. He was predeceased by his father Howard H. Haberern. Al graduated from East Hartford High School in 1969 and Eastern Connecticut State University in 1973. He earned his Master's Degree from UConn. He was a teacher in the Columbia School System before embarking on a successful career in investment finance at Aetna and ING. Al was a superb athlete playing high school and collegiate baseball and later to become an accomplished golfer. Alan was a consummate gentleman who comported himself with dignity, kindness integrity and grace in every situation. He was widely respected and loved as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, nephew, friend and business associate. He possessed a sharp intellect, keen wit and excellent sense of humor. His unique blend of charm and self-effacement were simultaneously disarming and beguiling. He shared many stories with many people and treated everyone with respect. He will be greatly missed by the many lives he positively influenced. There is no wake or calling hours. A mass and celebration of Alan's life will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 80 Hayes Street South Windsor, CT.
