Patrick Joseph Cyr Obituary

Patrick Joseph Cyr, 86, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Idalande (Daigle) Cyr, died peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 29, 1928, in Oakland, Maine, son of the late Solomon and Marie (Rossignol) Cyr. Pat grew up in Waterville, ME. He was married to Ida Daigle in 1949 and together they settled in South Windsor, where they have lived for over 55 years. Pat worked as an electrician for Roncari for 36 years, before retiring in 1993. Pat was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Church. He served on the Parish Council, as a Eucharistic Minister and was an altar server at funerals for many years. He was a member of the South Windsor Knights of Columbus Council 5779. Pat enjoyed golf and traveling and had the opportunity to travel internationally 15 times, where he most enjoyed spending time in France. Along with his wife of over 64 years, Ida, he leaves his children, Evelyn Sherriffs and her husband Michael of Enfield, Patrick Cyr and his wife Tina of South Windsor and Wayne Cyr and his fiancé, Alice Kehoe of Richmond NH; his brother, Valmon Cyr and his wife, Constance of PA, his sister, Gertrude Corbin of East Hartford and six grandchildren, Jason Sherriffs, Matthew Sherriffs, Renee Sherriffs, Michelle Wilson and her husband Cyle, Robert Cyr and Danielle Cyr. He was predeceased by his siblings, Anita, Lillian, Lucian, Robert and Philoman. Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, 10 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor. Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery, Broad Brook. His family will receive friends on Monday, April 21, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Elaine Scheinblum of St. Francis Hospital, Dr. Mahmood Yekta, Dr. Arshad Yekta, and Dr. Zia Rahman for the excellent care they gave Pat.
