Charlie Mae White Obituary


Charlie Mae White was called to glory on the morning of April 16, 2014 while at Hartford Hospital. She was the second of three children born to the late Jennie and Leslie Jacobs of Philadelphia, PA in 1932. Charlie Mae attended school in the Philadelphia school system and graduated from Dobbins Technical High School. While there she earned her diploma in Business Stenography. In later years of her life she took courses at St. Joseph's College for Women. Mrs. White moved to Waterbury, CT in 1956 with her husband and two children as he had been assigned to pastor the church there. She has been a resident of the Greater Hartford area since 1966, of which 15 years were spent in West Hartford. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 62 years Bishop Jesse J. White Sr. of West Hartford, CT; one brother, Daniel Jacobs of Philadelphia, PA; one son, Elder Jesse J. White, Jr. and his wife Lorraine of Windsor; six daughters, Mae Denise Williams and her husband Charles of Hamden, CT, Brenda Johnson of High Point, NC, Jennie White of Bloomfield, CT, Leslie Brown of Augusta, GA, Annette Harriott and her husband Robert of East Hartford, CT, and Deirdre Jones and her husband George of Sicklerville, NJ; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 22, 10 a.m. - 12 noon, followed by a Homegoing Service at 12 noon, at the First Church of the Living God, 70 Whitney St., Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Carmon Windsor Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
