Kenneth D. Forbes Obituary

Kenneth David Forbes, 77, of Hampstead, NC, formerly of Bristol, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Life Care Center, Wilmington, NC. He was born in Hartford, CT on May 22, 1936, son of the late Leo Joseph Forbes and Dorothy (Revett) Forbes. Mr. Forbes was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a Life Member of the DAV, a member of the American Legion, the Holly Ridge VFW post # 9983, and the Surf City Moose Lodge. He was a West Hartford, Ct Firefighter retiring with 33 years of service. Mr. Forbes enjoyed playing golf, working in the yard, and watching "The Price Is Right" and "American Pickers". Surviving are his wife of fifty-five years, Lucille Potvin Forbes; children, Mark Forbes and wife Holly of Middlesex, NC, Matthew Forbes and wife Karen of Bristol, CT, Cynthia Ambruso and Husband Joseph, Jr. of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Amy Forbes and fiancé Michael Sabb of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Peter and Dean Forbes, Lacey Radford, Michael and Allison Forbes, and Anastasia and Sebastian Sabb; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and family dogs, Kago and Tucker. In addition to his parents, Mr. Forbes was preceded in death by his son, Michael Joseph Forbes; sisters, Carol Voto and Joan Forbes; and brothers, Raymond, Ralph, Donald, and Wayne Forbes. Friends may call at The Ahern Home, 111 Main St, Rte. 4, Unionville, on Sunday, April 27, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be Monday at 9:15 am followed by the Funeral Liturgy in The Church of St Patrick, 110 Main St, Farmington at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
