Previously, Elmer and Lillian had made their home for almost 50 years in Windsor Locks, CT where they raised their family. Elmer was born in Port Chester, NY, December 13, 1924, son of the late Elmer D. and Eva (Foshay) Jones. He grew up in Mamaroneck, NY, graduating from F. E. Bellows High School, where he four lettered in baseball, basketball, golf, and tennis. He served our country during World War II in the European Theater of Operations with the 8th Armored Division of the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, Elmer was employed with Combustion Engineering for over 43 years. He lived a full and happy life enjoying traveling with his wife and family as well as golfing and bowling with his many friends. He was especially proud of his three holes in one at three different golf courses. Elmer was an avid New York Yankee fan and a devoted follower of the UConn women's basketball team. Most of all he will be remembered for his ready smile for everyone. He always loved a party. Along with his wife, Lillian, Elmer will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his loving family; two daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia (Jones) and John Condon, of Old Lyme, Priscilla (Jones) and William Serafin, of Tariffville, and their children, who were very special to Elmer, Joey Serafin of Granby and Jessie Grow and her husband Jared, of West Hartford; and a son Robert Jones of Windsor Locks and his children, Brian, Jason, and Nicholas; as well as five great grandchildren. A Memorial Celebration of Elmer's life will be held Friday, May 2, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield, CT 06109.
