Richard P. Pinney, Jr., 74, died peacefully at McLean Home on May 1, 2014 in Simsbury following complications from a devastating stroke he suffered in 2001. He was born in Hartford, son of the late Richard P. Pinney and Helen (Kraiza) Pinney and lived in the Tariffville and Granby area most of his life. He attended Bordentown Military Academy and graduated from Simsbury High School, Class of 1960. Besides his loving and devoted sister, Marjorie Miller of Simsbury, he leaves two nephews, Timothy Glazier of Simsbury, his Tuesday visitor who meant the world to him and Scott Glazier and his wife Susan of Tariffville; a niece, Sara Langan and her husband John of Wayland, MA; a great nephew, Connor Langan; and two great nieces, Shayna and Sophia Glazier of Tariffville. He remained best friends with his former wife "Ellie Olin" until her death in 2010. The family would like to give a special thanks for all the support he received on Unit 3, Birchview, especially his caring, compassionate and best friend Nurse Judy P. who helped Richard accept his biggest challenges and guided him on his final journey. There are no calling hours and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to FAVARH Inc., Attn. Ronelle, P.O. Box 1099, Canton, CT 06019.
