Carmella M. Worobel Obituary

Carmella M. Worobel, 88, of Windsor Locks, wife of the late John P. Worobel, died May, 1, 2014 after a short illness. Born in Hartford, she was the youngest of the seven children (all deceased) of Michael and Anna (DiNunzio) Mische. Carmella graduated from Hartford High School and married John in 1953 after he was discharged from the Navy. They moved to Windsor Locks soon after the birth of their third child. After lovingly raising her family she worked at various businesses and retired from Hi-G Corporation. Carmella was a communicant of St Robert Bellarmine/St Mary's Church. She was down to earth and it was her nature to help people. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. In retirement she was active in Windsor Locks Senior Center activities. Having been a bowler in previous years, she participated on the Senior Center's Wii bowling team which won a tournament in 2008. Carmella enjoyed her twice yearly trips to California to visit her daughter and keep strong bonds with her two granddaughters. She is survived by her family: daughter Pamela Worobel-Luk and her husband Wayne, of Richmond, CA; son Anthony and his wife Sammy Mae, of Vermont; cousin Rose Worobel; and Nancy C. Mische of CO as well as other nieces and nephews. Her granddaughters Kelsey and Kara were the love of her life. Carmella was predeceased by her son Mark. She had many dear friends in Windsor Locks including Betty Hoyt and Tommy O'Brien. The family would like to thank the nurses, physical therapist, and staff of Bickford Health Care Center, Windsor Locks, for the wonderful care they gave to Carmella over the past few months. Calling hours will be Friday, May 9, from 11:30 AM to 1 PM, at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.jdrf.org).
