Salvatore LoNero Obituary

Salvatore LoNero, 74, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of Pina (Bazzano) LoNero for 45 years, passed away suddenly Tuesday (May 6, 2014). He was born on September 6, 1939 in Solarino, province of Siracusa, Sicily and was the son of the late Salvatore and Sebastiana (Signorino) LoNero. He served in the Italian Army and immigrated to the U.S. in 1966. Sal was a mason and retired 20 years ago. He was a member of the Italian American Stars, an avid soccer fan, enjoyed gardening and making homemade wine. He was a longtime, faithful communicant of St. James Church, Rocky Hill. His favorite hobby was spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Sal will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Besides his wife Pina, he is survived by a son, Salvatore LoNero and wife Grazia of Jersey City, NJ and daughter, Lena Carbone and husband Guy of Wethersfield; six adored grandchildren, Joseph, Mark, Matthew and Jake Carbone and Emily and Isabella LoNero; three brothers, Sebastian LoNero of New Britain, Giuseppe LoNero and wife Lina of Rocky Hill and Paolo LoNero and wife Lucia of Hartford; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law in Sicily, as well as many nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Sicily. Funeral service will be Friday (May 9) at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. James Church, 676 Elm St., Rocky Hill.
