Ileana Leombruni Obituary

Ileana (DiMattia) Leombruni, 80, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of Valentino Leombruni, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday (May 7, 2014). Born in Pratola Peligna, province of L'Aquila, Italy on January 15, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Franco and Concetta (Presutti) DiMattia. Ileana was a member of the Pratolana Society and a longtime, faithful communicant of the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield. She devoted her life to her family. Ileana was married to Valentino for 62 years and shared many happy memories of Italy and their new life in America. She had a heart of gold, was selfless and did anything she could for others, asking nothing in return other than her family to be close. Ileana loved spending time with her grandchildren and passing on many Old World traditions. One of her greatest joys was making Easter Palombe with them. A wonderful mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her three devoted children, Peter Leombruni and his wife Janet, Franca Casey and her husband Tim and Norma Kendrick, all of Wethersfield and her ten adored grandchildren, Lisa, Mark and Sara Leombruni, Tim and Kelly Casey and Kelsey, Jacqueline, Alaina, Brendan and Josie Kendrick. Ileana will also be missed by her three sisters, Imperia DiMascio, Mary Chellstorp and her husband David and Marcia DiNunno and her husband Tony, all of Wethersfield. Funeral services will leave on Monday (May 12) at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Ileana's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Donations in Ileana's memory may be made to Hartford Hospital Palliative Care, C/O Fund Development or The Nursing Education Department, 80 Seymour St., Hartford, CT 06102.
