Margaret Corcoran Obituary

Margaret "Marnie" (Grassa) Corcoran, 86, of Windsor Locks, CT loving wife of the late Joseph Corcoran entered into Eternal Rest on Thursday, May 8, 2014. Marnie was born and raised in Lynn, Massachusetts and attended local schools. After high school she attended Emmanuel College in Boston, MA and earned a B.A. in Mathematics and her M.Ed. from the University of Hartford. Prior to beginning her teaching career, Marnie was employed with United Technologies-Hamilton Standard Division as an Engineer Assistant in Air Foil Research and Development then with the General Electric Company as an Assistant Engineer in Classified Jet Engine Research and Development Marnie's teaching career spanned 39 years as a Mathematics Teacher at Suffield High School. During this time she also taught Computer Science at Suffield High for 17 years and was the Chair of the Mathematics Department for 15 years. Marnie was a voracious reader and enjoyed traveling and working in her garden. She is survived by a son, Paul Corcoran of Manchester, CT; five grandchildren, Michelle Torromeo and her husband, Scott Farley, Kathryn Mazzotta and her husband, Paolo, Shannon, Melissa and Jennifer Corcoran and several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a son-in-law, Guy Torromeo. Marnie was predeceased by her daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Torromeo. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Monday, May 12, 2014, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at 10 am for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 am at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks.
