Persis E. Belcher Obituary

Persis E. (Glidden) Belcher, 93, of South Windsor, beloved wife of the late William Belcher, died peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2014, at a local convalescent home. She was born on October 9, 1920, in Barre, VT, daughter of the late Elwin and Edna (Farris) Glidden. Persis grew up in Williamstown and Norwich, VT and was a graduate of Norwich High School. She was married to the love of her life, William Belcher in 1942 and after the war they settled in South Windsor. She worked as an attendant at the Ten Pin Bowl for many years. Persis was a member of the South Windsor Senior Center and enjoyed bowling, bingo, trips to the casino and traveling with friends. A kind, caring and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be greatly missed. She leaves her daughter, Lois LaBrecque and her husband Bruce of Rhode Island; three grandchildren, Stephen Jewell and Toby Yates, Christie and Kevin Reynolds and Nicole and Dennis Ring and three great grandchildren, Alex and Travis Yates and Alexis Ring. She was predeceased by her close friend and companion, Tom Sheridan. Her family will receive friends on Friday, May 16, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor.
