Steven Gregus Obituary

Steven Gregus, 91, of Old Saybrook and formerly of Windsor, beloved husband for 59 years of the late Sylvia (Ramunno) Gregus, passed away on Wednesday, (May 14, 2014) in Old Saybrook. Born in Hartford on June 28, 1922, son of the late Stephen and Anna (Koran) Gregocz, he was raised in Hartford and had lived in Windsor for many years before his retirement in 1984. Steven and his wife Sylvia wintered for many years in Florida at their home in Hollywood and then in Port St. Lucie. They enjoyed spending their summers at the Connecticut shore since 1956. Steven was a retiree from the Town of Windsor and he also worked with his wife for many years at their business in the Wilson section of Windsor, Wilson Launderama. Steven was a history buff and in his spare time, he enjoyed reading, looking at photos and watching documentaries especially on battles and events from World War II. Most of all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, who always put his family first. He leaves three children, Linda Gregus of McLean, VA, Walter M. Fiederowicz and his wife Geraldine of Charleston, SC, and Claudia Fiederowicz of Windsor; five grandchildren, Michael Fiederowicz and his wife Amy of Tigard, OR, Catherine Fiederowicz of London, England, Eileen Hotham of Pittsburgh, PA, Kelly Hotham of West Hartford, and Michael Hotham of Windsor; six great grandchildren, Christopher, Emily, Catlin, MacKenzie, Connor, and Michael. He was predeceased by a son, Steven Gregus; three sisters, Katherine Stefanow, Mary Karatewicz, and Stella Zduncyk. His family will receive friends on Saturday, May 17, 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Steven's family has requested that memorial contributions be made to a .
