Frances Stavola Obituary

Frances (Manocchio) Stavola of Niantic and previously of Wethersfield, died on Friday, May 23, 2014. She lived, loved, and laughed with friends and family through the years at her cottage home in Oak Grove Beach in Niantic. Frances was born in Hartford, on Feb. 11, 1925, to Biase and Filomena Manocchio. She was married to Michael F. Stavola on May 22, 1954, and remained so until his death in 2004. She was an avid gardener, a talented artist, and adored grandmother. She had an incredible outlook on life finding beauty in the smallest of details and always thankful for the kindness in others. She is survived by her daughter, Annette Leisure and son-in law, Tim Leisure, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; her well loved grandchildren, Michael and Keeton (Katie) Leisure. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Dorothy Campanelli; and sister-in-law, Betty Ann Stavola; as well as her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Chapel. Interment will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, and is private. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries, PO Box 804, Essex, CT 06426.
