Irene S. DiSciacca Obituary

Irene S. (Strzempek) DiSciacca, of Enfield, entered into eternal life at the age of 92 on Monday May 26, 2014 (Memorial Day) in Enfield. Irene was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. DiSciacca (1992) and daughter of the late Thomas and Aniela (Skok) Strzempek. She was born on March 5, 1922 in Chicopee, MA and had resided in Enfield for the past 63 years. Irene served her country honorably with the U. S. Army and was a very proud veteran of WW II. Prior to retiring in 1985 she was employed with Hamilton Standard for 28 years and worked at US Envelope before that. Irene was a member of the Hamilton Retirees 25 Year Club, the AARP Chapter 3062, Enfield Senior Citizen Center and longtime member of St. Patrick Church. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, but her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. Irene is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law; David P. and Pauline (Theroux) DiSciacca of Enfield, her cherished and beloved grandchildren; Melanie Packard & husband Patrick, Michael DiSciacca and Matthew DiSciacca, along with many nieces and nephews. Irene was also predeceased by two brothers; Stanley & Walter Strzempek and a sister; Emily McClure.The family would especially like to thank the staff at Blair Manor for the kind and compassionate care given to Irene. Irene's family will receive relatives and friends during calling hours on Friday (May 30, 2014) from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield followed by the Funeral Service with Fr. Joseph DiSciacca officiating. Internment will take place with military honors in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in Irene's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38173-3704.
