Madeline A. Braun Obituary

Madeline Ann (Colone) Braun, 77, of East Hartford, loving wife for over 51 years of the late Walter "Ollie" Braun, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2014 surrounded by her caring family. Born in Hartford on September 5, 1936 to the late Stephen and Grace (Zigrino) Colone, she had resided in East Hartford for the past 53 years. A devout Catholic, she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford and a member of their Retirees Club. Madeline's strong sense of faith and love for Nuns and Priests came from her years spent at Holy Trinity High School in Hartford where she graduated in 1954. Prior to her retirement she was employed for over 20 years by ADVEST, Inc. in Hartford. Madeline loved reading but most of all she was a proud and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who lived for her family. Her home was filled with children's toys and cherished photographs in lieu of fragile trinkets. Madeline's warm smile, selfless character and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her five adoring daughters, Barbara Doran of East Hartford, Cindy Kershaw and Mark Chester of Colchester, Diana Hansen of East Hampton, Laurie Spillman and her husband Glenn of Andover, Madeline Schultz and her husband Mark of Bolton; a son-in-law, Tommy Kershaw of East Hartford; eleven special grandchildren, Damian Doran, Tina Doran, Brendan and Jen Doran, Nicole Kershaw, Matthew Kershaw and Jaime Oubre, Greg and Kelly Spillman, Jim Spillman, Jamie Spillman, Corey Garrison, Justin Barall, and Chloe Hansen; eight adored great-grandchildren, Anthony, Emily, Tyler, Olivia, Carter, Aliya, Jailyn, and Bella; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Besides her beloved husband and parents she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Tom Hansen of East Hampton; a sister, Dolores Gilberto of East Hartford; and a brother, Anthony Colone of Tennessee. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 10th at 9:30 am from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, Brandon Road/May Road, East Hartford. Burial will be at Silver Lane Cemetery, (Section AA), East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Monday, June 9th from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Madeline's family has asked that memorial donations be made in her memory to CT Children's Medical Center, 282 Washington Street, Hartford, CT 06106.
