Rachine Yvette Palmer Obituary


Rachine Yvette Palmer, 62, of Newington, CT, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday June 5, 2014. Born in New Britain CT, she was the daughter of the late Shelly and Flossie Mae Payne and was a New Britain resident most of her life. She graduated from Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, Ohio where she pledged with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She worked for United Parcel Service for 31 years and spent 5 years as a New Britain NAACP Chapter Youth Advisor before retiring from UPS. She was always full of life and enjoyed being around family and friends. She worked part-time, traveled often, and enjoyed helping spread information for community events and scholarships. Rachine is survived by her daughter, Saraea Palmer, of New Britain; her grand-daughter, Elle Harper; her sister, Sharon Payne, of Berlin; an uncle, Julian Lampkin, of New Britain; a special great-great niece, Jaleah Cross; two nieces, Kimekio and Nina Perry, of New Britain; two nephews, Anthony and Steven Perry, of New Britain; 10 great nephews and nieces, and many cousins. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Yvonne Perry. Homegoing Celebration for Rachine will be held Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 11a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 55 Chapman Street, New Britain, CT. Committal service and final resting place will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley Street, New Britain, CT. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Ave, New Britain, CT.
