Jerome G. Kabel Obituary


Jerome G. Kabel, 90, of Middletown, husband of Hortense (Rosenberg) Kabel for sixty three years, passed away on Sunday, June 8th at Middlesex Hospital Hospice. Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Irving and Dora (Steinmuller) Kabel. Jerry lived in Middletown since 1951 and was a member of Congregation Adath Israel Synagogue. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US ARMY and was a member of the Jewish War Veterans Post #51. Jerry was the owner of Kabel's Luggage and Gift Shop in Middletown and many other locations for forty-seven years. Along with his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth R. Kabel and his wife, Carol of Cincinnati, OH and Eric R. Kabel and his spouse, Edgar Swan of Rahway, NJ; a daughter, Jill K. Levin and her husband, Donald of West Hartford; a brother, Daniel Kabel and his wife, Harriet of Vero Beach, FL and four grandchildren, Grace and Hope Kabel and Stasie and Melissa Levin. He was also predeceased by his brother, Sidney Kabel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 11th at 1:00pm at Congregation Adath Israel Synagogue, 8 Broad Street, Middletown with Rabbi Seth Haaz officiating. Burial will follow in Adath Israel Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jerry's memory to Middlesex Hospital Hospice & Palliative Care c/o Office of Philanthropy, 28 Crescent Street, Middletown, CT 06457 or , Road to Recovery, 825 Brook Street, I-95 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
