Kenneth S. Krasow Obituary


Kenneth Stephen Krasow, 51, of New Hartford and formerly of Avon, beloved husband of Heather (Holliday) Krasow, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, surrounded by his family. Born in Philadelphia, PA, son of Herbert A. and Elinor (Epstein) Krasow of Bradenton, FL, he was raised in Avon where he lived most of his life. Kenneth attended Hebrew and Sunday School at Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation, Simsbury; graduated from Avon High School, and Mitchell College. He currently was a member of Beth El Temple, Torrington and volunteered teaching Jewish traditions at area schools and churches. He spent time as a scout leader with his daughter Kayte and as a soup kitchen volunteer with his son Ben. At the time of his death, he was the manager of WalMart in Torrington and was previously the manager of WalMart in Avon. He participated in Relay for Life and taught "Dress for Success". Kenneth had a wonderful sense of humor which helped his family deal with his difficult illness. Besides his wife Heather, and his parents, Herbert and Elinor Krasow, he leaves his loving children, Louis and his wife Marisa of Watertown, Benjamin of New Hartford, Kayte of Norfolk; step daughters Avery and Alexis Holliday of New Hartford; brother Robert Krasow of Somerville, MA; sister Kathryn Benedict and her husband Jason of Avon; a niece Alexandra and nephew Jacob Benedict. A funeral service will be held TODAY, Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 2 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. The Rabbi Richard Eisenberg will officiate. Burial will be in Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation Memorial Park, Avon. Shiva will be held at the Jason and Kathryn Benedict Home in Avon after the burial and Friday from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Hospital for Special Care, 2150 Corbin Avenue, New Britain, CT 06053; or to Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, 333 Cedar Street, PO Box 208028, New Haven, CT 06520.
