Romualda Pryjmaczuk Obituary

Romualda "Roma" (Jurski) Pryjmaczuk, 85, of Bristol, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 23, 2014 after a brief illness. Born in Poland on September 8, 1928, daughter of the late Tomasz and Jadwiga (Filipkowski) Jurski, she had lived in Poland before immigrating to the United States and settling in Hartford in 1964. Roma moved with her family to Wethersfield in 1974 and then to Newington in 1985 where she lived for many years before relocating to Bristol in 2011. A retiree of Pratt & Whitney, Roma had worked as machinist for over 20 years in West Hartford. She was a devout communicant of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford where she was a member of the Golden Seniors, the Third Order of St. Francis, and the Rosary Society. Proud of her Polish heritage, Roma was also a member of the Sokoly Club in New Britain and the Polish Army Veterans Association of America, Post #119, Women's Auxiliary in Hartford. Roma always remained active and loved gardening around her home and attending events at the Bristol and Newington Senior Centers. She leaves two sons, Stanley Zalewski of Rocky Hill and Walter Zalewski and his wife Krystyna of Burlington; a daughter, Alice Rutkowski of Farmington; a brother, Stanislaw Jurski and his wife Jadwiga of Southington; three sisters, Henryka Zalewski and her husband Witold of Hartford, Theresa Suleski of Enfield, and Jane Gurzeda and her husband Chester of Windsor; ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husbands, Stanislaw Rutkowski and Stefan "Steve" Pryjmaczuk; and by two brothers, Alexander and Henry Jurski. Family and friends may gather on Friday, June 27, 9:15 a.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, 43 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26, 5-8 p.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home. Memorial donations may be made to SS.
