Irene M. Amenta Obituary


Irene M. (Malikowski) Amenta, 87, of New Britain, the beloved wife of the late Harry Amenta, passed away on, Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Hospital of Central CT. She was taken home from her peaceful sleep to be with her Savior, with her nurse angels Mandy and Hillary by her side. Born in Forestville, daughter of the late John and Stefania (Petka) Malikowski, she was a lifelong New Britain resident. She worked for Central Connecticut State University and was a dedicated member of St. Jerome Church. Irene loved spending time with family and friends at her beach cottage in Old Lyme, and cherished her weekly card games with her New Britain friends. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling with her sister Dorothy and her Aunt Kay. A selfless and caring woman who loved to cook, Irene hosted every holiday meal for over 40 years, opening up her home to family and friends alike. She will be dearly missed by her three children; Pamela Boccia of Kensington, Jeffrey Amenta and his wife Carol of Southington, and Rick Amenta and his wife Paula of New Britain; her grandchildren Allison and Justin Amenta, and Samuel, Sean and Scot Boccia; her sister Dorothy Barry of New Britain; her niece Kathleen and nephew John; her sister-in-law Lydia Sims and her husband Guy and their children Mike, Carol, Cindy and Tim. In addition to her husband Harry, she was predeceased by her brother Joseph Malikowski. A Mass of Christian Burial has been scheduled for Saturday, August 9th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jerome Church, 1010 Slater Rd. in New Britain. Interment will take place privately and there will be no calling hours. Burritt Hill Funeral Home is serving the family.
