Pauline W. Barry Obituary


Pauline W. Barry, resident at Brighton Gardens, Tampa, Florida and long-time resident of New Hartford, Connecticut, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the age of 92. Born May 17, 1922, in New Hartford, CT, she was one of 8 children and daughter of the late John and Katherine Wabrek. She married Robert H. Barry, of Wyoming, PA in 1950 and they shared 38 years of marriage until her husband's death in 1988. During those years, Pauline was a stay-at-home mom, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a bookkeeper for several local businesses. Always a New Hartford resident, Pauline was a member of the New Hartford Homemakers Club, loved to cook and bake, and kept an immaculate home in what today is the home of the New Hartford Historical Society. A life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Hartford, she taught Sunday School, served several terms as Church Secretary and dutifully served as a lifetime member of the Ladies Aid Association. Pauline was a snowbird for a while, traveling between New Hartford and Tampa, Florida where her only son Robert H. Barry, Jr. Moved with his family in 1990. Eventually, Pauline settled in Tampa when the journey back and forth got to be too much for her. She spent the last few years of her life as a resident of Sunrise Communities, Brighton Gardens, in their Assisted Living Center, where she passed quietly in her sleep, on July 1st. She is survived by her son Bob and his wife Kim, of Tampa, their two children, Courtney (St. Petersburg, FL) and Rob (Tampa, FL), a variety of nieces and nephews, and a sister, Eleanor Adams, of Barkhamsted, CT. Services for Pauline will be held, in Tampa, FL on Monday, July 7, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church, 3714 West Linebaugh Ave, in the Carrollwood section of Tampa. There will be a viewing there from 10:00am to 11:00am, in the church sanctuary. A memorial service will follow at 11:00am at the same location. In New Hartford, CT, there will be calling hours, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 5 Steele Road, New Hartford, on Tuesday, July 8th. A funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Prospect St., on Wednesday, July 9th, at 11:00am. Visit an online guestbook at Montano-shea.com.
