Joseph Edward Kleszczynski Obituary


Joseph Edward Kleszczynski, 85, of West Hartford, beloved husband for 60 years of Mary Christa (Wilusz) Kleszczynski, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Jakubowice, Poland on September 4, 1928, son of the late Jozef Franciszek and Bronislawa (Sopinska) Kleszczynski, he was raised in Poland and had lived in Italy and England before immigrating to the United States. Joseph served in the Polish Army under British command at the conclusion of World War II. Upon arriving in the United States, he lived in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Waterbury, Hartford, and then West Hartford where he had lived for over 40 years. He worked at the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1994 after over 26 years of service and spent many years at the Bishop's Corner branch in West Hartford. Joseph also worked as a realtor/broker with Frank Daniak Realty and later with Haymond Realty in West Hartford. Proud of his Polish heritage, Joseph was a prominent and active member of the Captive Nations, Polish American Congress, P.N.A Lodge #464, and he taught Polish history and language in adult continuing education classes in West Hartford. A West Hartford resident, he had served as a Town Constable and on the West Hartford Republican Town Committee for many years. In his free time, Joseph enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with his family. He was a longtime parishioner of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Chester Kleszczynski and his wife Elizabeth of Marlborough and Matthias Kleszczynski of West Hartford; two daughters, Christina Rosemeyer and her husband John of Sanford, FL and Teresa Gilbert and her husband David of Portland; a sister, Krystyna Esteves of Osterville, MA; six grandchildren, C.J. Rosemeyer and his wife Jesenia of Honolulu, HI, Nicole Rosemeyer and her husband Robert Carmody of Orlando, FL, Callie Rosemeyer of Sanford, FL, Monica Astle and her husband Geoffrey of Norwalk, George Gilbert of Portland, and Kimberly Kleszczynski of Windsor; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Belle. He also leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends and their families in the United States and abroad. He was predeceased by a brother, Boguslaw Kleszczynski ; and a sister, Zofia Kleszczynska. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, July 5, 10 a.m., at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 55 Charter Oak Ave., Hartford. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, PA. Memorial donations may be made to SS.
