Kenneth M. Miller Obituary


Kenneth Matthew Miller, 37, beloved son of Raymond and Beverly Miller, passed away on July 6, 2014. Born October 19th, 1976 in Hartford, Ken grew up in South Windsor where the activities he participated in included Cub Scouts, playing Little League baseball for several years as a pitcher, and was a member of the South Windsor High School track and cross country teams. During these years he developed a keen interest in computers and spent many hours studying and developing software on his home computers. Ken graduated Class of 1994 from South Windsor High School. Following high school, Ken went on to obtain his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst followed soon after with a Master's Degree in Business Administration, also from UMass. After graduating college Ken lived in Simsbury, Tolland, and, most recently Enfield. Ken pursued a career in Software Engineering at Hamilton Standard, Pratt and Whitney, and most recently with the Belcan Corporation. Ken was the proud father of two sons, Jason and Adam, whom he loved and cherished, regarding each moment he spent with them as precious. Ken held a special place in his heart for his brother Craig and together they shared a lifelong inseparable bond. As a young boy, Ken enjoyed the time he spent at his Aunt Edie's cottage on Lake Pocotopaug , swimming, fishing and watching fireworks on the 4th of July. He also enjoyed trips with his Grandparents to Cape Cod, family trips to Washington DC, Gettysburg, Fenway Park, and the fun we had at Disney World, Florida. Ken loved spending time with family and friends at Holiday gatherings, picnics, and parties, taking many memorable photographs. Ken loved lobster as his favorite food and was especially fond of his Mom's homemade beef stew. He enjoyed driving his 1997 T-top Camaro, the loud car as his sons would call it, playing classic old time Atari video games, and MacGyver. Ken was a kind, thoughtful, generous young man and throughout his brief life, Ken formed many lifelong friendships which meant so much to him. Ken is a dearly loved son, brother, grandson, nephew and father and he leaves behind to celebrate his life his parents Raymond and Beverly, brother Craig, sons Jason and Adam, grandparents Raymond and Barbara Miller, grandparents Wil and Doris Thibodeau, his Uncle Jeffrey Miller, Aunt Sharon and Uncle William Erickson, Aunt Gail and Uncle Leo Forte,, Cousins Diane Gurry, Karen Erickson, Christopher, Sarah, Rebecca, and Rachel Forte, and many more Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He was predeceased by great grandparents Anna and Romey Gauvin. He also leaves behind a special friend in Pastor Randall Pekari. Family and friends may gather on Friday, July 11, 2014, 9 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Church, South Windsor. Burial will follow in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor. His family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
