Dolores DeJohn Silveira Obituary

Dolores DeJohn Silveira, Beloved wife, Devoted mother, Adoring grandmother and great grandmother passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, soft music, and angels on June 23, 2014. Born in Rocky Hill, CT, on July 19, 1930, Dolores was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary DeJohn. Dolores leaves to hold her legacy and memory; her wonderful husband Manny, her two daughters, and a son in law, Gail and Kim Walker of Rocky Hill, CT, and Carol Silverwatch of Irvine, CA, three grandchildren and their spouses Maridee and Darin Adler of San Diego, CA, Laura and Jaron Dalbeck of Washington, DC, Ryan Walker along with great granddaughter Kennedy Prae Walker of Milford, CT, her sister Gloria Incerti of Middletown, CT, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and Angelo Demma the father of her daughters. Dolores was preceded in death by her brother Daniel DeJohn. No recitals of the bare facts can encompass the greatness and wonderment of Dolores D. Silveira. Dolores was named by her father after his favorite film star Dolores Del Rio. Dolores always had an affinity for vintage Hollywood glamour. From her trademark fabulous hats to her elegant jewelry, Dolores lived her life with such great panache. Dolores known by friends and family as Dee, was a brilliant shining light of love and laughter that emanated through to everyone she met. Dolores worked early on in her life for many years at SNET, was a member of American Legion Post 132, and was also a member of St. James Catholic Church. Dee's many hobbies and interests included an extensive collection of Commemorative Plate Block Stamps and an exquisite collection of porcelain dolls. Dee also loved to garden and turned her yards into floral paradises which were featured in The Hartford Courant. Dee loved to travel with Manny. They vacationed throughout the United States, Eastern and Western Europe, and throughout the Caribbean. She collected rocks from all of her different travel destinations. Her collection grew as she continued to receive them from her many friends and family. Dee was one of WDRC radio station's biggest all time winners. She amassed everything from hundreds of 45's and iconic record albums to numerous prizes including a motor-scooter, several trips and cruises, always winning on an impossibly slow kitchen wall rotary phone. Dee cherished her family more than life itself. She loved to laugh and converse, she was hysterically funny and quick-witted. Dee had such a beautiful smile, such a loving compassionate heart, and her zest for life was incomparable. Dee inspired and enriched the lives of all who knew her. Dee lived a long and fulfilled wondrous life. Her incredible legacy lives on in those who loved her and were so privileged to be in the light of her life force. It is such an honor to be Dee's husband, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchild, sister, "auntie", cousins, and friend. Dee will be forever cherished! As Dee departed her loved ones... Exultant Angels shouted, "Here She Comes!" A memorial service will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Park 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill on July 19, 2014 at 11:00AM. All who knew and loved Dee are welcomed to attend and celebrate her life.
