Nancy A. Sullivan Obituary

After a long life of looking after others, Nancy Sullivan was rejoined with her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, the late John A. Sullivan, on July 8, 2014. Nancy was born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Patrick T. and Nora (McCormick) Driscoll. She attended Southwest Grammar School, Bulkeley High School and Miss Marchant's Secretarial School before working for the City of Hartford for over 37 years, first in the health department and later in the finance department. Her most joyous years were those spent watching her grandchildren grow up and the addition to the family of four great grandchildren. After spending most of her life in Hartford, living on the edge of Hyland Park, Nancy moved to Simsbury to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. A private person who shunned the spotlight and even the occasional camera flash, Nancy nonetheless became well known around town by the many merchants who got to know her on her weekly shopping jaunts as a very special lady. They would know her regular orders by heart but would never know her age. Bingo nights in Hartford during the winter and late night set back games at the beach in the summer pretty much rounded out her social calendar. Nancy leaves behind her daughter Patti S. Juda and husband Michael of Simsbury, her beloved grandchildren Kristen Juda of Bristol, Peter Juda and his wife Kristin of West Hartford and their beautiful children Yvette and Skyler, and Robert Juda and his wife Angela of Stratford and their wonderful children, Michael and Amy. She also leaves behind her sister Helen D. Kavanaugh of Glastonbury and her brother John D. Driscoll and his wife Ann of West Hartford as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the outstanding care shown by members of the Simsbury Ambulance and Police, St. Francis Hospital and especially the very special people at McLean Home. Their patience, professionalism and compassion shown for the entire family during Nancy's last days are greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The McLean Home, 75 Great Pond Rd., Simsbury, CT 06070. Friends may call on Sunday July 13, 2014 from 2:00 to 5:00pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. Funeral services will be held Monday July 14, 2014 at 10:00 am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Mary Church 942 Hopmeadow Rd. Simsbury, CT 06070. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd. Bloomfield, CT 06002. To extend online condolences, share a story or to light a memorial candle, please visit Farleysullivan.com.
