Dolores J. Cupina Obituary


Dolores J. Cupina, 72, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on March 19, 1942 in Peckville, PA, the daughter of the late George and Anna (Kupcho) Cupina. Dolores graduated from Southington High School in 1960 and the Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her RN Degree. She began her 50-year nursing career as head nurse of the ER at Veterans Memorial Hospital of Wallingford, continued as a visiting nurse in Meriden and retired from Bradley Memorial Hospital. Dolores always had a passion for helping others. She leaves her loving sisters, Monica and her husband Francis Ingriselli of Milldale and Ann Marie and her husband Andrew of Plantsville and Cammie and her husband Thomas Tolbert of Florida, her cherished nieces and nephews Lisa and Stathis Manousos, Michele Quadrato, Alexis Yanosy and husband David, Ryan Nagy, Tyler, Alyssa and Matthew Tolbert, her great-nephews and niece, Nicholas, Mitchell, Christopher, Michael and Emma. She also leaves her favorite pets "Sofie" and "Striker". Also, her loving family in Pennsylvania. She will always be remembered as our "family nurse", the "pirohy master", and our beloved "Auntie Dodo". She also liked to spend her time traveling at home and abroad, going to the casino and watching the Red Sox and the UConn Huskies. We also cannot forget her love for Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 9:15 am from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Aloysius Church at 10 am. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-7 pm.
