Ronald C. MacLachlan Obituary


Ronald C. MacLachlan, 75, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Phyllis (Fletcher) MacLachlan, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Manchester Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 20, 1939, in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late Harold R. MacLachlan and Helen (Megrey) Folz. Ron was a graduate of East Hartford High School with the Class of 1957. He went on to serve our country with the U.S. Navy. Upon returning from the Navy, Ron was married to the love of his life, Phyllis, on May 16, 1961 and together they settled in South Windsor. He worked as a research technician for the UTC Research Center for over 40 years, before retiring in 2012. Ron was a hardworking man, who enjoyed fishing, reading, genealogy, and vacationing at Hilton Head in South Carolina. He was a "jack of all trades". A kind, caring, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend he will be sadly missed by all. Along with his wife, Phyllis, he leaves his son, George "Scott" MacLachlan of South Windsor, daughters, Robin Kiely and her fiancé, David Wandzy of Ellington and Bonnie Archambault of Ashford; his sister, Donna Lee Ryan of Hope Sounds, FL; five grandchildren, Ryan Kiely and his wife Kara, Shane Kiely and his fiancé, Sara Ward, Brandon Kiely and his girlfriend, Megan Squardito, Devon Archambault and her fiancé, Ryan Bresnahan and Arthur Archambault and a great grandson, Logan S. Kiely. His family will receive friends on Sunday, July 20, 2014, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurses & Health Services, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066 and / or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 300 Research Parkway, Suite 310 Meriden, CT 06450.
