Jerome J. Tedone Obituary


Jerome J. Tedone, of Windsor Locks, departed this life on July 18th , 2014 to join his wife Joan Barbara Ann (Hebert) Tedone on the pink sand beaches of their Bermuda in Heaven. Joan passed away in their 39th year of marriage. They were married in 1957. Born in Hartford on July 7, 1931, the son of the late Constantino and Domenica (Rossi) Tedone. Jerry grew up in the Front Street area of Hartford. Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951, and after Electronics School with the Navy, served as a Radio Technician on transport planes during the Korean War. His tour in the Navy brought him to Japan, and to his families homeland Italy, and to the city his parents grew up in, Bari. After his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, Jerry moved back to the Hartford area and used his expertise as a Radio Technician to become an Electronics Technician. He worked for Moses Electronics and then for Ackers Television for 47 years until his retirement in 2003. Jerry also fixed all of his friends TV's at home, and was well known in Windsor Locks as the TV guy to go to. Jerry and Joan started their marriage living in West Hartford, and moved to Windsor Locks in 1958. There they raised three sons. Jerry was very involved in the Knights of Columbus where he had served as Grand Knight,and ran the Knights of Columbus Monday night Bingo along with his friends until very recently. Jerry was also a member of the Luna Club, and served as their Treasurer for many years. Jerry enjoying bowling, playing cards and gardening in his free time. Jerry still had the family fig trees that had been passed down for generations from Italy. In his later years, Jerry enjoyed the company of his special friend, Stacy McKenna, and they would spend much of their time playing Bunko and Bingo at the Suffield Senior Center with their friends. Jerry was also an avid setback player, and played in a Wednesday night setback league. He leaves behind his three sons: Michael, and his wife Lori, and their children Nicole, Rachael, and Anthony: son Jeffrey, and his wife Jannette, and their son Benjamin, and his step-children Stephanie, Rachel and Nicholas: and son John with whom he lived. Jerry also leaves behind his special pets Bailey, Jessie, Riley, Bella and Jasper. Jerry is also predeceased by his brothers Jack and Gus and his sister Mary and many other relatives and longtime friends. We his family, would like to extend a gracious Thank You to the staff of the Johnson Memorial Cancer Center in Enfield, CT, and to the nurses, aides and staff of Vitas, a Hospice in home care provider. We thank them for the kindness they have shown our father, and for the dignity they have shown him during his battle with cancer. Jerry's family will be having a Mass to celebrate his life on Saturday, July 26th , 2014, at 10:30 am at Saint Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm St., Windsor Locks.
