Anne J. Levins Obituary


Levins, Anne J. "Nitzie", passed away peacefully on Sunday July 20, 2014 at Countryside Manor in Bristol. Anne was born in Bristol July 15, 1917, the daughter of the late Arthur and Anne (Doran) Levins. The youngest of six, Anne graduated from Bristol High School and was employed at the New Departure-Hyatt Division of General Motors, retiring after 35 years of service. She was one of only two people hired in the year 1937 by New Departure. An avid sportswoman, she participated in softball and bowling leagues throughout her life. She enjoyed spending winters at her second home in Venice, Florida. Anne leaves her nephew Doran Robbins, and his wife Ellen with whom she lived with for 30 years; their children Megan Cyr and her husband Greg; Laura Robbins and her husband Isai Toledano, and their daughter Ariana; Tom and Brian Robbins. She also leaves several nieces and nephews: Roger Robbins of Simsbury, CT, Judith (Levins) Michaud and James Levins of Bristol, CT, Patricia (Levins) Moreland, Arlington, MA, James Levins, Huntsville, AL and Marilyn (Levins) Rushen, Stroudsburg PA. Anne was pre-deceased by her sisters Mary (Levins) Leary and Theresa (Levins) Robbins, and brothers Peter, Jim and Art. The family would like to extend a thank you to a special group of people whose friendship Anne truly valued: Josephine Walsh, Kay McKemmie, Beverly Tyler, Grace Cwiek, Rita Roy and the Thursday morning brunch crew at the Parkside Café. We would also like to thank the staff at Countryside Manor for their care and compassion and to all who contributed to Anne's care over the past several years. The funeral mass will be held Thursday, July 24, at 11 am at St. Joseph Church in Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening from 5-7 pm at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph School, 335 Center St., Bristol CT.
