George S. Oprysko Obituary

George S. Oprysko, 67, of Vernon, beloved husband for 37 years of Oksana (Hluszewskyj) Oprysko, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Monday (July 21, 2014). Born in Germany on January 23, 1947, he was the son of the late Stephen and Kateryna (Jurewycz) Oprysko. George served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime member of the Ukrainian National Home, Plast Ukrainian Scouting Organization and the United Brotherhood of Khmelnychenky. He was also a communicant of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Hartford. In addition to his loving wife Oksana, George will be dearly missed by his two adored daughters, Larissa Popel and her husband Taras of Somerset, NJ and Christine Oprysko of Rochester, MI; two cherished grandchildren, Zoriana and Alexandra; his brother, Lew Oprysko and his wife Robin of Hartford, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Glastonbury. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
