Edward Charles Dombek Obituary

Edward Charles Dombek passed away July 28, 2014. He was born on December 18, 1919 in Hartford to the late Stanley and Catherine (Fedroka) Dombek. Edward was raised in Ellington, working with his brothers and father on the tobacco farm. In 1941 Eddy enlisted in the army and was a sergeant in the 192nd Field Artillery Battalion. Ed served in the Pacific campaign for the entire duration of World War II. During the war, Eddy would send and receive letters from his sweetheart Lil. When he returned home in 1945, he married her and they remained together for sixty-seven years. Eddy worked as an auto mechanic for over thirty-five years. He was a member of St. Bernard's Church, the Knight of Columbus, Rockville Lodge of Elks, and Post 241 of the VFW. Edward is survived by his two sons Edward Dombek Jr. and his wife Pam of Minnesota and Michael Dombek and his wife Jan of Newington, CT. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Cori Mallott, Ryan, Kelley, Lauren, Andrea and Jack Dombek; and five great-grandchildren: Gavin, Bennett and Chloe Mallott and Anastasia and Elizabeth Dombek. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 1, 2014 at St. Bernard Church, 25 St Bernard Terrace, Rockville, CT. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville, CT.
