Margaret Mary Farley Obituary

Margaret Mary (Daniel) Farley passed away on Monday July 28, 2014 after a courageous year-long battle with brain cancer. She was 88 years old. Margaret is survived by her six children: Rosemary Edgar, James Farley, Jeanne Barone, Elaine Pizzola, Dianne Daniel, and Daniel Jr. She was blessed with fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Mary (Davin) and Herman C. Daniel, husband Daniel P. Farley, Sr., and her siblings: Mary Eileen Hughes, Marcella Clary, and Rosemary Hayman. After graduating Catholic Central High School (Steubenville, OH), Margaret met Danny, the love of her life. Following his discharge from the USCG in WWII, the two married. Through her many years at St. Bernard Church, Marge was active in the St. Bernard's Rosary Guild, CCD and CYO Christian education programs, shawl ministry and many other church ministries. She was a church lector and Eucharistic Minister. In 1987 she earned her Master's Degree in Theology from Holy Apostles College in Cromwell, CT. She served as Director of Religious Education at Our Lady of Mercy (Plainville, CT), St. Luke's (Ellington, CT), All Saint's Church (Somers, CT) and St. Bernard's (Enfield, CT). Upon retirement, Marge enjoyed spending time with her children, spoiling her grand children and great grandchildren, and traveling. Margaret was known for her devout faith, beautiful Irish smile, quick wit and her enjoyment of Red Sox baseball. She was welcoming and accepting to all. Her generosity, encouragement, and love have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be missed. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield.
