Fortunata Plumley Obituary


Fortunata "Nettie" (Fettig) Plumley, 78, of South Windsor, formerly of East Hartford, beloved wife of 50 years to the late Robert F. Plumley, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital. She was born on November 13, 1935, in Strasburg, North Dakota, daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Bichler) Fettig. Nettie grew up in North Dakota and moved to Wisconsin as a teenager. She was married to the love of her life, the late Robert Plumley in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and together they settled in East Hartford. She worked in banking for Hartford National and retired from Bank of America, ironically in the same building for over 20 years. Nettie was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in South Windsor, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was a member of the Mother's Circle in East Hartford. She enjoyed UCONN basketball and had the opportunity to travel in her retirement. A kind, caring and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed. She leaves a daughter, Sandra Morelli and her husband Sal of South Windsor; a son, Steven Plumley and his wife Tracy of Killingworth; four brothers, Don Fettig of Corpus Christi, TX, Pat Fettig and his wife Dianne of Madison, WI, Harold Fettig and his wife Janet of Waukesha, WI and Tim Fettig and his wife June of Fountain Valley, CA; a sister, Linda Hobbick and her husband Daniel of Irvine, CA and four grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Brenna and Treasa. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Fettig. Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, 9 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor. Her family will receive friends on Monday, August 4, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
