Walter S. Sadowski Obituary

Walter S. Sadowski, husband of Joan Sadowski who passed away last Friday, departed this world on Friday, August 1, in his beloved birth-town Suffield, surrounded by loving family. Walter was born on September 2, 1925, son of the late Stanislaw and Veronica (Sobelewski) Sadowski. He grew up in Suffield and graduated valedictorian from Suffield High School (1943). He earned BSE (1948) and MS (1956) degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Connecticut. Walter was employed by the CT Power Company in New London, and at Hamilton Standard as an engineer, where he worked on aeronautic projects for outer-space exploration until he retired in 1987, when he became a real estate agent and substitute teacher in Windsor. He loved coffee and Polish music and heritage, and was a loyal UConn Huskies, New York Giants, and Boston Red Sox fan. Walter was a loving family man, always helping at his parents' tobacco farm, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed bowling and golf. He took his family on many memorable vacations, including Ocean Beach's Polkabration annually. He loved fixing things. Walter was predeceased by his sister Jennie Mills and brother Frank Sadowski. He is survived by three daughters: Joanne (Mark), Marianne, and Christina (Sean) and five grandchildren: Sean, Dana, Kai, Sholeh and Samara, and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Jonathan Tress, Dr. Anthony LaSala, and dear friend Sue Cannon. His family will receive friends Monday, August 4, 2014 from 8:30-9:30 AM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. N. (Rt. 159), Suffield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 AM, at St. Mary Church, Windsor Locks. Burial will be private.
