A. Patricia (Daley) Stapleton, 82, of Berlin, formerly of Newington, died early Sunday morning August 3, 2014 comforted and surrounded by her family during her brief illness. A social person who was a lover of FAMILY, children, chocolate, a perfect Manhattan, the Red Sox, UConn, traveling with her late husband, Bob, and her Irish heritage; Pat has left her inspirational positive spirit for all to emulate. She was a friend and caregiver to all. She was a former parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Newington and held many roles in the Ladies' Guild most prominently, President. She was also a CCD teacher and was involved with the Home and School Association. She was a member of many other clubs and organizations including: First Grade Friends, her High School group, CLUB, the NCH Lunch Bunch, the Red Hat Society, the Berlin Sr. Center and the Ladies of Honeysuckle Court. She was also a pillar of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Newington having been a Eucharistic minister, President of the Ladies' Guild and facilitator of the Church's bereavement group. She had been employed by DePasquale's, Gustave Fischer, H. O. Penn, and was the Chief Telephone Operator at The Newington Children's Hospital. Pat was a beloved person of character, compassion, wit and strength. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Robert M. Stapleton in 2001. Her loss is deeply felt by her son, Robert M. Stapleton and his wife, Kathleen of Marlborough, Donna Bovee and her husband, Bart of Kensington, Gael Stapleton of Tolland, Anne Reilly and her husband, Brian of Kensington, and Patricia Stapleton of Newington; her grandchildren who will always be her pride and joy: Matthew Reilly and Katie of West Hartford, Michael Reilly of NYC, Courtney Bovee of Brighton MA, and Kaitlyn Bovee of Berlin. Pat's wonderful, fun friends leave endearing good times that are cherished. She leaves her ONLY sister, Carol Cohoon; brothers Terry Daley (Linda), Frank Daley (Ellen); a sister-in law, Ann Smith (Tom) and deceased brothers: Vincent, Charles "Buddy", and Kevin. Pat leaves behind Bob's sisters, Agnes Stapleton, SND and Agnes Rath, sisters-in-law Sachie and Josephine and predeceased by Bob's family: Jim, Johnny (Eleanor), Barbara (Frank), Theresa (Bob). Pat and Bob loved family gatherings and seeing all their beloved nieces and nephews and all her cousins here in the U.S. and Ireland. The family wishes to thank her good friend, Pat Gai, Dr. Frederick Pope, Dr. Edwin Spath, Dr. Gladys Kagoan, Dr. Robert McAllister, the staff at St. Francis Hospital and most recently, the staff of N5 at The Hospital of Central CT - New Britain campus, for their professional and compassionate care. A special thanks to Pam Berry of A Shear Perfection for always making Mom feel beautiful. Pat brought joy to every gathering. She loved and lived life to the fullest. Dad finally got his prayers answered for Mom to join him. We ask you to join us in celebrating Pat's life and reunion with Dad at the funeral service and eulogy on Friday at 9:00 AM at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, then followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, at the Church of The Holy Spirit, Newington. Pat will be laid to rest with Bob in West Meadow Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Newington Memorial.
