Robert F. Morelli Obituary

Robert F. Morelli, 85, formerly of East Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 with his family by his side. Born in New Britain on April 27, 1929, the son of the late Angelo "Mike" and Yvonne (Langlois) Morelli, he had resided in East Hartford for 50 years. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army -Air Corps during the end of World War II and later transferred to the U.S. Air Force in September of 1947 as a charter member with whom he was a veteran during the Korean War. He was a bus driver for The Connecticut Company, before starting his own business, "Bob's Mobil" on Hartford Road, Manchester in 1970. He later retired as head of maintenance of the Whole Donut in 1995. Robert was an Assistant Scout Master of Pack #57, East Hartford and was involved with the East Hartford Elks Midget Football team during the 1970's. He was a former member of the Republican Town Committee in East Hartford and a former Town Constable in East Hartford. He was also an Associate Committee member for the East Hartford Police Explorers, a communicant of St. Rose Church, East Hartford, and an avid New York Giants football fan. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Dolinski of East Hartford and June DeLuco of Windsor Locks. Robert is survived by Mary Morelli and their children: son, Michael Morelli and his wife, Christine, of Glastonbury; daughter, Tracie Knapsack and her husband, Glenn, of Wethersfield; and two granddaughters, Kayla and Julie Morelli both of Glastonbury. He also is survived by a special friend, Debbie Sheehan of Wethersfield; several nieces, nephews, and other dear friends. Funeral services will be Friday (August 8th) at 1 pm at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Friday from 12 Noon to 1 PM.
