Angel L. Ruiz Obituary

Angel L. "Wicky" Ruiz, 70, of East Hartford, loving husband of Virginia Fontanez, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 with his caring family by his side at Hartford Hospital. Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on April 16, 1944, a son of the late Serapio and Ana (Merced) Ruiz, he had resided in Hartford for over 40 years prior to moving to East Hartford 15 years ago. Prior to his retirement he was a Truck Driver for many years for the Salvation Army in Hartford. Wicky was an avid loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox who also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and swimming. He was known to light up the room to everyone he came in contact with. Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by a daughter, Shondella "Tonka" Norman-Ruiz of New Britain; a brother, Pedro J. Ruiz of Tampa, FL; four special grandchildren, Jeremy Armstrong of Batavia, NY, Javion Walker, Jekhi Walker, and Anahvia Hampton all of New Britain; along with many adored nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Tony Ruiz and Felix Ruiz both of Hartford, and a sister, Isabel Galindo of Hartford. Funeral services will be Saturday (August 9th) at 10 am at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield. Burial will be at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
