Charles Sumner Kellogg III Obituary

Charles Sumner Kellogg, III, 83, of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of Aldea (Meunier) Kellogg, passed away on Saturday (August 9, 2014) at Hartford Hospital. He was born on December 16, 1930 in Warwick, Rhode Island, son of the late Charles S. Kellogg, Jr., and Frances (Moore) Kellogg. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1952 to 1954. After his return from the war, he worked in the construction industry. He was employed by Daddario Construction for thirty years, and also worked for Incorporated Construction, both of Bloomfield. He retired fourteen years ago. Charles belonged to the Tobacco Valley Flywheelers and loved restoring antique John Deere tractors and engines. In addition to his wife of fifty-six years, Aldea, he leaves their three sons, Charles, IV, of Windsor Locks, Mark, of Windsor Locks, and Larry and his wife Catherine, of New York City; five sisters, Jean Hastings of New Milford, Janet Murray and her husband, Ronald, of Newington, Marjorie Spellman and her husband, David, of East Hartford, Claire Kellogg in Florida, and Sally Chapman in Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law, Jeannine Meunier in Vermont, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Thursday, Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm St.,Windsor Locks. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Poquonock. His family will receive friends on Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a .
