Goldie (Weintraub) Greenberg Rosengarten, 97, of Vernon and Meriden, wife of the late Dr. Mark Greenberg, and Joseph Rosengarten, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Vernon Manor. Goldie was born in Hudson, NY, one of three children, to immigrant parents, Wolf and Anna (Glaser) Weintraub. She was a graduate of Hudson High School, and Albany State Teacher's College (now SUNY) with a degree in Library Science. She completed her Master's degree at Southern Connecticut State College. She lived in Meriden for 28 years. She was head school librarian at Southington High School for 16 years before her retirement in 1978. She also served as head school librarian at Platt High School for one year. Goldie served on the Meriden Library Board of Directors from 1966-1976. She enjoyed vacations to their summer cottage at Copake Lake, NY, traveling and playing bridge, and socializing with her Meriden friends. She cherished time visiting with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, going on cruises, playing bridge and square dancing. After Joe's death in 2005, she returned to West Hartford, and continued an active independent living center life at Chatfield, then to Emeritus assisted living center in South Windsor, and then to Vernon Manor. Goldie is survived by her three children; Robert Greenberg and his wife Maxine of South Windsor, Janet Greenberg of Paris, France, and Laurence Greenberg and his wife Deborah Shipkin, of Martha's Vineyard; five grandchildren, Jeff Greenberg and his wife Shea of Las Vegas; Lauren Greenberg and her husband Nasser Mohammed-Eman of Silver Spring, MD; Daniel Greenberg of Hoboken, NJ; Sarah Greenberg of North Billerica, MA, and Stephen Greenberg of New York City, NY; three great grandchildren, Amir Greenberg Nasser, Mia Greenberg Nasser and Isabella Greenberg, and nephew Paul Aaronson of Farmingdale, NY.
