Alan M. Roe Obituary


Alan M. Roe, 65, of South Windsor, loving husband of 41 years to Joanna (Sousa) Roe, passed away peacefully with his caring family by his side on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at his home. Born in Hartford on June 2, 1949, a son of the late James E. and Harriet F. (Klucewicz) Roe, he grew up in East Hartford and was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1968. Alan was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. Prior to his retirement he was employed for 38 years by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford. Alan was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #3901 in East Hartford and the American Legion Post #0133 in South Windsor. Alan was an avid fan of both the New York Yankees and New York Giants and enjoyed spending many weekends camping at Del-Air Campground in Tolland with his family and friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his grandson, Aidan Jay Johnson of Broad Brook. Along with his beloved wife, Joanna, Alan is survived by his three children, Dawn M. Roe of East Hartford, Patricia A. Roe of Enfield, and Michael A. Roe of South Windsor. He also leaves behind an aunt, Helen E. Cook of Alexandria, VA; an uncle, Edward Klucewicz of Manchester; an aunt, Marian Roe of Texas; his beloved in-laws, James Ciulla Sousa of Wisconsin, Daniel and Leslie Sousa of Coventry, Robert and Dawn Sousa of Plainville, Robert and Maryann Tsolas of East Hartford, Paul J. Sousa of East Hartford, Joseph A. Sousa of East Hartford; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday (August 19th) at 9 am from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Mary's Church, Main Street/Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, (Section P), Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Monday (August 18th) from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alan's name may be made to the Hospice Program @ Visiting Nurse & Health Services of CT, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066 or to St. Mary's Church, 15 Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford, CT 06108.
