Oliver A. Therian Obituary

Oliver A. Therian of Windsor Locks, entered into eternal rest on August 17th 2014 after 99 years of a long, fulfilled life. Born July 5, 1915 in Windsor, CT, he was the son of the late Frank and Rose Delima (a.k.a. Dehlia) (Laroche) Therian. Together, Oliver and his wife, Dorothy (Micha) Therian were lifelong residents of Windsor Locks, before she preceded him in death on October 23, 1998. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, especially at the Shepard's pond, playing the steel guitar with his Friday night band, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends. He was still building up until the age of 95 and his passion was strong! Oliver had a zest for life, a spirit like no other and was very giving of all he had to those he loved. Oliver was the owner and carpenter at Rainbow Construction Company, where and was a handyman in the truest sense of the word. He also worked for The JE Shepard Company in South Windsor for a long period of his life until retirement. Oliver will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He leaves behind his brother, Aldor Therian of Windsor; many nephews, niece's and cousins and many close friends. With the help of his family, friends and his in-home caregiver (who became family)one of biggest wishes was fulfilled, which was to remain at home until the end of his life. He was closely surrounded by his family and loved ones during the last year of his life and during his final days. A special thanks from the entire family to Dr. Sam Pope, of Hartford Hospital, for all he did to help Oliver during the last 2 years of his life and to Interim Hospice Care. Besides his wife and his parents, Oliver is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Arthur and Edward Therian and his sister, Ida Lalunas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, 42 Spring St. Windsor Locks at 10am on August 20th. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in Oliver's name to the Lupus Foundation of America, of which his wife suffered from, as well as his niece. Donations can be made online at lupus.org or forms will be available at the mass for people who would like to donate by mail.
