Obituary Condolences

PAIGE, John L. Jr. John Lewis Paige, Jr., 47, a long time resident of East Hartford and former resident of Hartford, departed this life on Monday, (February 11, 2008). A well loved and devoted father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew and friend; he was born on December 21, 1960 in Pritchard, AL. John, also known affectionately as Jay, was the third child of Mattie Louise Paige and John Lewis Paige, Sr. At the age of 4, John moved with his mother to Hartford where he attended Brackett Northeast School. He then attended Wethersfield Middle School and graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1978. John went on to pursue his passion for cooking and earn his associates degree from Johnson & Wales Culinary College in 1980. Upon graduating, John prepared a variety of foods at several Hartford restaurants, including The Brown Thompson, 36 Lewis Street and Capital Fish House. For the past 21 years, John worked for Saint Francis Hospital at the Mount Sinai Campus in the Dietary department where he was a committed Union Representative. John was a devoted and beloved member of Sanctuary of Faith & Glory Church where he was an integral part of the Hospitality Committee. John had a love of family and friends; his mere presence would warm any room he entered. He brought joy, laughter, smiles and hugs to everyone he encountered. John was a confidant to many friends, and he was a wonderful uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He delighted the children by attending their performances and football, lacrosse, soccer, baseball and basketball games. John is survived by two children: Joshua Paige and Laura Paige of Windsor. He is also survived by siblings: Diane Paige Whitworth of East Hartford, Gloria Paige Atkinson of Hartford and Reginald Paige, Sr. (wife Gail) of West Hartford. He leaves behind 9 nieces and nephews: Andre Paige, Aaron Davis, Brandon Whitworth, Britney Whitworth, Reginald Paige, Jr., Maia Paige, Leah Paige, Eve Paige and Savier Paige. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 15, at 11 a.m. at Sanctuary of Faith & Glory Church located at 752 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. His family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 10 - 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to My Sister's Place, 102 Pliny Street, Hartford, CT, 06120.
