Obituary Condolences

KANE, Steven J. Steven J. Kane, 21, beloved son of Edward and Catherine Kane of Farmington, passed away on Monday, (April 21, 2008), surrounded by his loving family at St. Francis Hospital. He was born July 1, 1986 in New Britain. Many will remember Steven as bright, funny, energetic and full of life, with a smile that would light up a room and a laugh that was distinct and contagious. In keeping with Steven's kindness to others and in the spirit of giving, he gave the ultimate gift of life, as he became an organ donor. He cared deeply about his family and friends, and enjoyed history, the arts, movies, and bowling. Steven was a graduate of Farmington High School where he participated in the Varsity Wrestling team, the Chamber Singers and the Orchestra. In recent years Steven attended St. Bonaventure University where he participated in the University Ministries, and Sacred Heart University, and most recently he attended Tunxis Community College in Farmington. Blessed with the gift of music, Steven performed with the Repertory Theatre of New Britain, the Farmington Valley Chorale and the Hartford Chorale. He was also a lector at St. Mary's Church in Farmington. A loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, Steven will be greatly missed by all, beyond what can be expressed by words. In addition to his parents, Steven is survived by his sister, Jennifer Kane of Farmington and his brother, James Kane of Farmington, his grandparents, Joseph and Agnes Kane of Plantsville, his great uncle Harold Kane of Southington and was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Edmund and Dora Meheran. He also leaves to cherish his memories with his many aunts and uncles; Rosemary and Ron Bernier of Glenwood, NJ; Michael and Laurie Meheran of Canton; James and Lynn Meheran of Bolton, MA; Peter and Helen Meheran of Kingsville, TX; Joseph and Jean Kane of New Britain; Kevin and Deborah Kane of Simsbury; Shelia and Jay Dubinsky of Plantsville and Ret. Lt. Col. Gerard and Robyn Kane of Colorado Springs, CO, and many, many cousins who will always hold him close to their hearts, as he has touched their lives so. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Francis Hospital for their kindness, compassion and caring for both Steven and his family. Family and friends may call TODAY Thursday April 24 from 6 - 8 p.m. at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be Friday April 25 at 9:15 a.m. followed by the Funeral Liturgy in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to St. Bonaventure University, Attn: University Advancement/ Steven Kane Memorial, P.O. Box 2500, St. Bonaventure, NY 14778, in memory of Steven.
