Irene MacArthur Obituary

Irene (Chadwick) MacArthur, 92, of Suffield, widow of John C. MacArthur died Wednesday (October 17, 2001) at the Suffield House, in Suffield. She was born in Baltic, the daughter of John and Grace Chadwick and was formerly of New Britain, living in Suffield the past 2 1/2 years. She was a member of South Congregational Church, New Britain for 59 years where she was a former deaconess and admission chairman for Erwin Home. She was active in New Britain Senior Center Square Dance Club and R.S.V.P., and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She was a graduate of Backus Hospital School of Nursing and retired as director of nurses at Jerome Home after 20 years and was a former Public Health Nurse for the V.N.A. in New Britain. She leaves a daughter, Janice MacArthur of Suffield; a son and his wife, Jack and Cherie MacArthur of Strongsville, OH; two granddaughters and their husbands, Beth and Doug Bateman of Texas, and Kelly and Mark Jablonski of Ohio; two great grandchildren, Amanda and Brandon; a sister-in-law, Barbara MacArthur of North Dakota; and nieces and nephews. There will be a funeral service Saturday, Oct. 20, 10 a.m. at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Friday, Oct. 19, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.
