Phyllis Bednarz

Phyllis (Bancroft) Bednarz, 78, of Webb Street, Windsor Locks, died on Thursday, (July 24, 2003) at Hartford Hospital. Phyllis was the beloved wife of the late Sigmund J. Bednarz. She was born in East Windsor on April 15, 1925, daughter of the late Robert and Imogene (Watson) Bancroft. She graduated Ellsworth High School, South Windsor where she was a member of the National Honor Society. Mrs. Bednarz was the owner and President of Pine Meadow Machine Co., Windsor Locks. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by her sons, Thomas and his wife, Carol of Windsor Locks, and Paul and his wife, Deborah of Marlborough; her daughter, Diane and her husband, Lawrence Lech of Broad Brook; and six grandchildren, Brian, Justin, Laura, and Jordan Bednarz, Christopher Brownlie, and Julie Lech; her uncle, aunt, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also predeceased by her son, James; her brothers, Robert, Donald, Gerald, and Russell Bancroft. Phyllis's family would like to thank the staff in Bliss 8 and in the Palliative Care Unit CB4 for the loving care they extended to our mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, at 10 a.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. Burial will be in Scantic Cemetery, East Windsor. Phyllis's family will receive relatives and friends TODAY from 5-8 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home.
