BURNS, William "Bill" John Jr. William "Bill" John Burns, Jr., 63, of Ellington and formerly of Windham, died Sunday, (February 1, 2009) after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 23, 1945 in Hartford, the son of Lola (Westgate) Burns and William Burns, Sr. He lived in Windham for most of his life and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He had been employed by Eastern Connecticut State University as a Data Technician, retiring in 2001. He loved nothing more in life than his family and friends, fishing, hunting, and travelling the U.S. in his RV. He is survived by his three children, John "Bum" Burns, Julie "Peanut" Burns-McAvoy and her husband Jeffrey McAvoy, June "Pooh Bear" Burns-Seeley and her husband Jose Seeley, three sisters, Bette Smith, Patricia Boyington, Kathleen Mitchell and her husband James, a grandson Derek Seeley, and several nieces and nephews. His family will receive friends at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson Street (Rte. 195), Willimantic on Wednesday, February 4th from 5-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 5th at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a reception.
