Obituary Condolences

FALVEY, Daniel Matthew Jr. Daniel Matthew Falvey, Jr., 81, of East Hartford and Westerly, RI, loving husband of Mary Rita (McGill) Falvey, died unexpectedly on Thursday, (September 29, 2009) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Norwich on February 26, 1928, a son of the late Daniel M. and Mary Ellen (Navin) Falvey, he had been a resident of East Hartford since 1965. Dan was raised and educated in Norwich and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. Prior to his retirement, Dan was employed for over thirty-nine years by Southern New England Telephone Company, retiring as a manager. Dan was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus-Council #3901, East Hartford, the Irish/American Home in Glastonbury, and of the Telephone Pioneers of Hartford. Dan was a devoted family member and proud grandfather who enjoyed spending many summers at his home at Misquamicut Beach in Westerly, RI with his family and friends. Besides his parents, Dan was predeceased by a sister, Helen Guinan of Norwich. Along with his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, Dan is survived by two sons, Daniel Henry Falvey of East Hartford, James Michael Falvey and his wife, Sarah, of West Hartford; a daughter, Denise M. Bartlett and her husband, Deacon Bill, of Manchester; two brothers, John F. Falvey of Norwich, Arthur J. Falvey and his wife, Frances, of Franklin; a sister, Anne McGill and her husband, James E., of Norwich; seven grandchildren, Jennifer M. Witschy and her husband, Ian, of East Hartford, Kimberly T. Bartlett of Manchester and her fiancée, Sean Fournier, William H. Bartlett, Jr. of Manchester, Amber M. Falvey of Enfield, Daniel H. Falvey, Jr. of East Hartford, Catherine "Cassie" Falvey of West Hartford, James "Jay" Falvey, Jr. of West Hartford; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral Services will be Saturday (October 3rd) at 9:30 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Road, East Hartford. Graveside services will commence at 12:45 p.m. at St. Joseph's Cemetery, (Section G), 815 Boswell Avenue, Norwich. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Friday (October 2nd) from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dan's memory may be made to the , 538 Preston Avenue, P.O.
