Lena L. (Lacasse) COLLINS Obituary
COLLINS, Lena L. (Lacasse) Lena "Lee" L. (Lacasse) Collins, entered into eternal life at the age of 83 on Wednesday (December 30, 2009). She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years Julian L. Collins in 1989. Lena was born on April 17, 1926 the seventh daughter of thirteen children of the late O. Peter and Nora A. (Blair) Lacasse, a farming family, in Williston, Vermont and resided in the Hazardville section of Enfield for over 55 years. During World War II Lee worked as a telephone operator in Burlington, VT after moving to CT she worked in the retail business for many years at Steigers, Sage Allen, Caldors & G. Fox. Lee was very involved in her local community having been a Cub Scout Den Mother and a member of the Enfield Tax Payers Association, a member of St. Bernard's Church she was also a volunteer for 21 years with the Meals on Wheels Program for which she received a proclamation from the town of Enfield for her years of volunteer service. She enjoyed taking care of animals, loved to paint and to play the lottery. Lena is survived by her three sons; Mark Collins and his wife, Pamela of Windsor Locks, Robert Collins and his wife, Doris of South Windsor and Peter Collins of Vernon, her four beloved grandchildren; Shane, Justin, Julianne and Nicolas, her siblings, nieces, nephews and many friends, especially her dear friend, Sharon Labrecque of FL. Relatives and friends may gather on Saturday, January 2, 2010 from 9-10:30 a.m. with her family at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield during calling hours to share fond memories of Lee's life followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 426 Hazard Ave. Enfield. Burial will take place in the Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph 47 West Spring St. Winooski, VT 05404.
